The mission of the Exchange Club is to “inspire our community to be a better place to live”. Our National Programs of Service include: Americanism, Community Service, Child Abuse Prevention, and Youth Programs. The Exchange Club of Idaho Falls Memorial Day Field of Honor fulfills all four of the National Programs of Service.
Americanism. The display of 1,000 American flags is an awesome sight, especially if the flags have been sponsored in recognition of service to our country. Each flag can be sponsored to honor any person, living or not, that deserves to be called a hero. Veterans, first responders, firemen and policemen are examples, but so are teachers, coaches, and parents. Special to Exchange Club are the victim’s of child abuse. Each sponsored flag receives a commemorative tag with the hero’s name and the information about them. If for a veteran, include branch of service, rank, and conflict. The flag and memorial tag are on display for the entire Memorial Day weekend. The Memorial Flag is also available for purchase by the sponsor. A portion of the net proceeds generated from the flag sponsorships will be contributed to Veteran Service Organizations through the Idaho Falls Military Affairs Committee.
Community Service. The Exchange Club of Idaho Falls supports numerous Community Service Projects, and a portion of the net proceeds from the Field of Honor will be contributed to the Bonneville-Idaho Falls Crimestoppers, Inc. to help in the prevention of crime in our community.
Child Abuse Prevention. The Exchange Club of Idaho Falls has been a long time supporter of local child abuse prevention agencies. A portion of the net proceeds from the Field of Honor will be contributed to help in the prevention of child abuse.
Youth Programs. The flag display, the Memorial Day Services, and the recognition of our heroes, are just some of the opportunities our youth will be able to experience at the Exchange Club of Idaho Falls Memorial Day Field of Honor. Our youth need reinforcement of Americanism, whether it’s from learning how to properly fold the flag, to meeting veterans and their families, to observing a Missing in Action/Prisoner of War presentation, the Field of Honor Memorial can be a learning experience for all. The contribution to the Prevention of Child Abuse and Crimestoppers will also be a great benefit to the youth in our community.
